Germany, Luftwaffe. A Winter Flight Helmet consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac issued on 1 May 1942(Luftwaffe Kopfhaube fr Flieger). A Luftwaffe winter flight helmet, constructed of a multi panel dark brown leather shell. The helmet is flanked on each side by leather compartments for the accommodation of ear pieces which have been lost to time. Two integral straps set into the beck of the head fasten closed with functional metal snap buttons for the accommodation of flight equipment.
