He played the tenor sax in big bands led by such people as Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and Bennie Moten. Webster played on an amazing amount of records on such labels as Verve, Impulse, and Columbia. He eventually moved to Europe to play in the jazz scene over there in the mid 1960s but sadly passed away there after a stroke in 1973 at the age of 64.
